About

On the 13th March 2017, I was deployed at short notice to Casey Station, Antarctica, to fill the unexpectedly vacated position of Station Leader of the wintering 70th ANARE (Australian National Antarctic Research Expedition) team.

Within 36 hours, I went from enjoying a stroll in the sunshine along the docks in Hobart, Australia, to boarding the Australian Antarctic Division A319 aircraft to fly to Casey on the final flight of the season.

Out team of 22 expeditioners will together share the winter experience at Casey over the next 6 months. for better, or for worse, as we have no way home until the first flight in October.

It is my pleasure to share this amazingly unique experience, particularly with those who may never make it this far south.
I hope that you enjoy my posts in whatever form they manifest, and that they may somehow take you along on this journey with me.

Enjoy the ride...
